APS5 & APS6 Compliance Officers | Financial & Regulatory Compliance

Bluefin Resources is partnering with a major Commonwealth Government agency to recruit multiple APS5 Compliance Officers and APS6 Senior Compliance Officers into a growing regulatory function.

These roles offer an excellent opportunity for accounting and finance professionals who want to move beyond traditional financial reporting and use their skills in a regulatory, compliance and assurance environment.

If you are comfortable interrogating financial information, identifying anomalies, challenging assumptions and determining whether information is accurate and compliant, your experience could be highly transferable.

What you'll be doing
Working within a specialist regulatory team, you will review financial information and disclosure returns, undertake financial compliance assessments and analyse information from multiple sources.
You will identify discrepancies, trends and potential areas of non-compliance, undertake quality and assurance activities and prepare clear, evidence-based advice and recommendations.

At APS6 level, you will take ownership of more complex matters, exercise greater judgement and autonomy, and provide guidance and support to junior team members.

Who we're looking for
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with backgrounds in:

• Accounting and financial analysis
• External or internal audit
• Financial reporting and assurance
• Management accounting
• Risk and compliance
• Regulatory compliance
• Government finance
• Financial services regulation
• Grants, funding or program assurance

You don't necessarily need to have worked in a dedicated regulatory compliance role.

If you're an accountant, auditor or finance professional who has spent your career reviewing financial information, testing transactions, investigating variances, identifying control weaknesses or ensuring compliance with accounting, legislative or policy frameworks, we'd like to hear from you.

APS5 or APS6?
For APS5, we're looking for strong analytical capability, attention to detail and experience undertaking financial reviews, compliance activities or assurance work.

For APS6, we're looking for greater depth and independence. You'll be comfortable dealing with complex financial information, making sound judgements, providing senior-level advice and supporting or guiding others.

Accounting, Commerce or Finance qualifications are highly regarded.

The opportunity Fixed term or S26 
APS5: $82,336 – $90,234 + super
APS6: $91,140 – $102,152 + super
Locations: Canberra or Melbourne
Commencement: Expected 2 November 2026
Engagement: Full-time, specified-term Commonwealth Government employment
Australian citizenship is mandatory.

An existing Baseline Security Clearance is advantageous but not essential. Candidates who do not currently hold a Baseline must be able to obtain one.
Given the nature of the organisation, successful candidates will also need to demonstrate impartiality, integrity and sound professional judgement.
