Lead Veterinarian – Small Animal GP| The Gables Veterinary Group

Supportive team | Flexible working | New leadership | Opportunity to shape the future

Are you an experienced veterinarian ready to take the next step into leadership?

The Gables Veterinary Group is entering an exciting new chapter under new leadership, and we’re looking for an experienced Lead Veterinarian to join our close-knit small animal GP clinic.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to make a genuine impact — not only providing exceptional patient care, but helping shape the culture, clinical standards and future direction of the practice.

About The Gables Veterinary Group:

We’re a small, established small animal GP clinic with a loyal client base and dedicated pet owners who value high-quality veterinary care.

Under new leadership, we’re focused on creating a positive, supportive and sustainable workplace where team wellbeing is a priority and our people feel valued, respected and empowered to do their best work.

As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll play a key role in this next chapter, helping create a clinic culture that is collaborative, supportive and focused on clinical excellence.

About the role:

As our Lead Veterinarian, you’ll combine hands-on clinical work with leadership and mentorship.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence how the clinic operates, support the development of the veterinary team and work closely with the wider leadership team to continue building a thriving practice.

You don’t need to have held a Lead Vet title previously — we’re interested in experienced veterinarians who are ready to step into leadership and make a meaningful contribution.

Why join The Gables Veterinary Group?

  • New leadership and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of the clinic.
  • A genuinely supportive and close-knit team.
  • Flexible working options designed to support a sustainable career.
  • A loyal client base and varied small animal GP caseload.
  • The opportunity to lead, mentor and develop a veterinary team.
  • A workplace where your ideas and experience are valued.
  • The chance to help build a positive and collaborative clinic culture from the ground up.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the clinic’s marketing strategy.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to help shape the future direction of the practice.
  • Help maintain and promote high standards of clinical care and patient outcomes.

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to take on a leadership opportunity and who:

  • Has 5+ years’ experience in small animal general practice.
  • Has strong clinical skills across medical and surgical cases.
  • Is confident providing leadership, guidance and mentorship to other veterinarians.
  • Is passionate about developing people and creating a positive team environment.
  • Communicates well and enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Is committed to delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Holds a Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science and is registered with the ACT Veterinary Practitioners Board as a Veterinary Practitioner.

Ready to lead the next chapter?

If you’re an experienced veterinarian looking for a leadership opportunity where you can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether you’re an established Lead Vet or an experienced GP ready to take your first step into leadership, The Gables Veterinary Group could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
