We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to lead environmental compliance, approvals, monitoring programs, and continuous improvement initiatives across a dynamic and evolving site.This is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to influence environmental performance, engage with regulators and stakeholders, and contribute to the responsible development of a significant mining project.
About the RoleReporting to the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance obligations are met while supporting operational teams with expert advice and practical solutions. You will oversee monitoring programs, approvals management, regulatory reporting, auditing activities, and environmental risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental compliance across operations located both on and off site, and, development activities
- Manage statutory approvals, licence conditions and environmental obligations
- Maintain and drive a long-term environmental compliance calendar
- Coordinate environmental monitoring programs including air, water, soil, biodiversity and waste
- Analyse monitoring data and prepare technical reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Establish and maintain an online environmental risk management system
- Lead environmental incident investigations and corrective action programs
- Coordinate regulatory submissions, audits and stakeholder engagement activities
- Support environmental risk assessments and management plans
- Contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the Environmental Management System
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to site personnel and environmental team members
About YouTo be successful, you will possess:
- Degree qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven environmental experience within mining, resources, heavy industry or a similar regulated environment
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance frameworks and approvals processes (NT preferred)
- Experience managing environmental monitoring and reporting programs
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Experience interpreting complex regulatory requirements and translating them into practical site outcomes
- GIS capability using ArcGIS or QGIS will be highly regarded
