Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Payroll Audit Officer to support a specialist payroll review and assurance project.
In this role, you will conduct detailed payroll audits, review employee entitlements and leave balances, identify discrepancies, and contribute to remediation activities. You will work with sensitive payroll information and provide clear, accurate reporting to support payroll compliance and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Review payroll records and validate employee entitlements and leave balances.
- Identify, investigate, and document payroll discrepancies, including overpayments and underpayments.
- Conduct payroll reconciliation and assurance activities.
- Prepare clear assessment reports and supporting documentation.
- Assist with remediation activities and recommended payroll corrections.
- Provide regular progress updates and maintain accurate audit records.
- Prepare final documentation outlining findings, outstanding issues, and recommended actions.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in payroll auditing, payroll assurance, or payroll compliance.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, employment conditions, and leave provisions.
- Experience conducting reconciliations, investigations, and data analysis.
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive employee information.
- Experience within a government or large, complex organisational environment is highly regarded.
- Experience using payroll and records management systems will be advantageous.
