Aquaculture Technician (ornamental crustacean)

The Australian Bay Lobster Producers Limited (ABLP) team require a suitable candidate to fulfil the role of an Aquaculture or Fisheries Technician (ornamental crustacean). Reporting to the Aquaculture Farmer – Manager (ornamental crustacean), this hands-on position assists in raising and managing aquatic stock by undertaking onshore crustacean husbandry tasks, sampling water and analysing data from recirculating aquaculture systems, and identifying common diseases and pests. The candidate is to performs tests and experiments and provides technical support across research, production, servicing and marketing activities. At a minimum the candidate will be competent in routine husbandry and water quality testing, will follow procedures with accuracy and care, and will work closely with the wider ornamental crustacean team to help achieve production targets. The suitable candidate will be eager to build their technical skills and knowledge of crustacean aquaculture, alternative feed types and growth systems, and to grow their career within the aquaculture industry.
