Media Specialist - Public Sector - Multiple Positions

$700-$850 per day + super | Sydney CBD / Hybrid | Contract to December 2026

We are seeking an experienced Media Specialist to join a public sector organisation on a contract basis. This is a fast-paced role suited to a communications professional who is confident managing media, stakeholders and reactive issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver media and communications activity, including media releases, pitches and visual communications.

• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide clear communications advice.

• Respond to fast-moving and sensitive issues, including delays, disruptions and emerging risks.

• Support events, announcements and other high-profile communications activities.

• Translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging for a range of audiences.

• Identify and manage communications risks and provide appropriate advice to stakeholders.

• Work proactively with media to identify opportunities and pitch relevant stories.

About you:

• Experience working in media, communications or public relations, ideally within the public sector.

• Strong media relations experience, including proactive pitching and reactive media management.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

• Comfortable working under pressure and responding quickly to changing priorities.

• Strong judgement and an understanding of communications risk.

• Experience working across a range of communications channels, including visual content.

Location: Sydney CBD - Elizabeth Street
Work arrangement: Hybrid, approximately 50% onsite
Contract: ASAP start to end December 2026, with potential extension for one position into February 2027
Rate: $700-$850 per day + super
