About the role:
Cat5 Rail is currently seeking experienced Hi Rail Excavator Operators to support our rail operations across the Pilbara region, WA. As a proudly family-owned business with operations spanning Australia and New Zealand, we offer excellent career prospects, a supportive team culture, and the opportunity to work on major rail infrastructure projects.

Skills & experience

  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (or equivalent).
  • TLIC3045 – Operate Road/Rail Vehicle.
  • Excavator and Loader tickets.
  • Proven experience operating Hitachi and Liebherr Hi Rail Excavators.
  • Valid HR class driver’s licence (minimum), with no restrictions.
  • White Card (Construction Induction) and Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card.
  • Experience working in safety-critical environments and adherence to rail safety protocols.
  • Physically fit and willing to carry out manual labour tasks as needed.
  • Able to pass a Rail Category 1 medical and ongoing drug & alcohol screening.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Operate Hi Rail Excavators and road/rail vehicles in a safe and competent manner.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery, tools, and vehicles.
  • Assist with labouring duties as required on rail maintenance and construction sites.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and compliance with project and industry regulations.
  • Operate a variety of Hi Rail attachments including Tilt Rotator, Rail Threaders, Undercutters, Tamper Heads, Jibs, Buckets, Octopus and Platypus grabs.
