The Role

We are currently working with a rapidly growing engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their awesome team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys a mix of project delivery, client interaction, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering geotechnical solutions across a variety of complex projects, from investigation and analysis through to design and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver geotechnical investigations, assessments, and design solutions
  • Interpret site data and provide technical recommendations across projects
  • Undertake and review 2D and 3D finite element modelling (FEM) for complex geotechnical problems
  • Analyse foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement, and construction interactions with existing infrastructure
  • Conduct slope risk assessments in line with relevant industry guidelines
  • Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and support during construction phases
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of the team
  • Support business growth through technical input, proposals, and client engagement

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years’ geotechnical engineering experience within Australia
  • Strong experience across both site-based investigations and technical design
  • Proven experience with finite element modelling software such as RS2, RS3, Slide, or similar
  • Experience preparing technical assessments and engineering reports
  • CPEng accreditation (essential)
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant industry guidelines
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage projects, clients, and competing priorities effectively
