Overview:

Turbotech specialises in turbocharger servicing, repair and parts supply for passenger, commercial and heavy vehicles. Using OEM-spec equipment and certified quality systems, the company provides diagnostics, machining, balancing and assembly services for a wide range of turbochargers.

We are looking for a full-time Fitter to join the team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for for carrying out the inspection, disassembly, repair, refurbishment, reconditioning, machining, assembly and testing of turbochargers and related mechanical components.

This position is a full-time ongoing position, based in Ascot, WA – 6104.

Main Tasks:

· Interpret technical information, drawings, component specifications and manufacturer requirements to determine the appropriate repair, machining, fitting and assembly procedures for turbocharger components.

· Inspect turbochargers and individual components to identify wear, damage, contamination, distortion and other conditions that may affect performance or reliability.

· Disassemble turbocharger units and carefully inspect internal components, including shafts, wheels, housings, bearings, seals and related assemblies.

· Measure components using precision measuring instruments and workshop equipment to assess dimensions, tolerances, wear and suitability for reuse, repair or replacement.

· Prepare, clean and restore turbocharger components using appropriate workshop processes, including ultrasonic cleaning, mechanical cleaning and surface preparation.

· Use workshop machinery and hand and power tools to machine, grind, modify, prepare and restore metal components to the required dimensions and tolerances.

· Carry out fitting and assembly of turbocharger components and subassemblies, ensuring correct alignment, clearances, positioning and secure installation.

· Replace worn or damaged mechanical components and complete repairs in accordance with technical requirements and established workshop procedures.

· Perform machining and component preparation required for turbocharger refurbishment and reconditioning, including work associated with housings, shafts and other mechanical components.

· Set up and safely operate relevant workshop machinery and equipment used for machining, component preparation, balancing and assembly.

· Carry out rotating assembly balancing and related preparation using Turbotech's in-house balancing equipment and procedures.

· Diagnose mechanical faults and investigate the likely causes of turbocharger failure, using inspection findings, measurements and testing procedures to determine appropriate repair solutions.

· Conduct operational and quality checks on completed turbocharger assemblies to verify correct fitment, condition, balance and readiness for return to service.

· Identify components that do not meet required specifications and determine whether they should be repaired, machined, replaced or removed from service.

· Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, repairs, component replacements and work completed on each turbocharger.

· Follow workshop procedures, manufacturer specifications, quality requirements and workplace health and safety requirements when carrying out all mechanical work.

· Maintain workshop tools, machinery and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition and report any faults or maintenance requirements.

Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:

· Relevant certificate III + a minimum of 1 years’ full time work experience in the industry; OR 3 years’ work experience in the industry to substitute the formal qualification.

Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:

· Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and measurements.

· Ability to use precision measuring instruments and workshop tools.

· Experience working with mechanical components and assemblies.

· Ability to operate workshop machinery safely and accurately.

· Understanding of component tolerances, clearances, alignment and fit.

· Ability to identify mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair requirements.

· Attention to detail when inspecting, machining and assembling components.

· Ability to work independently as well as as part of a technical workshop team.

Annual salary will be between $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
