The Role

The Infrastructure & Operations Manager is a senior delivery leadership role accountable for the operational performance, technical maturity and continual improvement of Network, Server and Cloud services within a managed services engagement.
The role provides credible technical leadership, strengthens infrastructure operations, drives service reliability and ensures services are operated in line with contractual requirements, customer expectations and recognised industry practices.
The role operates with high autonomy, proactively identifying risks, setting priorities, engaging the right resources and taking ownership of outcomes across both the infrastructure towers and the broader customer engagement.

Key Accountabilities

Lead Infrastructure Operations

Provide operational leadership across Network, Server, Cloud and related infrastructure services, ensuring clear ownership, defined standards, effective monitoring, current documentation, escalation pathways, lifecycle management and proactive risk visibility.

Provide Technical Leadership

Use strong infrastructure experience to guide technical teams, challenge assumptions, assess risks and ensure proposed solutions are supportable, resilient and operationally appropriate. The role is governance and leadership focused, not the primary hands-on engineering role.

Improve Service Maturity

Assess operational practices and lead pragmatic improvements across monitoring, configuration, standards, patching, vulnerability remediation, backup and recovery, resilience, lifecycle management, documentation, incident/problem management and change quality.

Drive Continual Service Improvement

Maintain a visible Service Improvement Plan that prioritises actions, owners, target dates, risks, benefits and measurable outcomes. Improvements should reduce recurring issues, increase automation, strengthen resilience and improve customer experience.

Manage Operational Performance, Incidents and Risk

Ensure services meet agreed SLA, OLA and contractual expectations. Monitor trends across availability, incidents, major incidents, problems, change outcomes, patching, vulnerabilities, backup success, capacity and technical risks. Intervene early where performance is deteriorating.

Lead Teams and Customer Engagement

Lead technical leads and engineers across Network, Server and Cloud services. Set clear expectations for ownership, quality, communication, accountability, collaboration and customer outcomes.

Act as a senior infrastructure representative with customer stakeholders, translating technical issues into business impact, providing recommendations, supporting governance forums and contributing to the broader success of the managed services engagement.

Skills/Experience

·  Significant experience in enterprise infrastructure, technology operations or managed services environments.
·  Strong technical background across Network, Server, Cloud or related infrastructure technologies, with the ability to guide technical teams and assess operational risk.
·  Demonstrated experience leading technical operations teams, managing incidents, problems, change and service improvement.
·  Strong customer, stakeholder and governance capability, including clear communication of technical risk, service performance and improvement priorities.
·  Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and drive outcomes rather than simply coordinate activity.

The successful candidate will demonstrate technical credibility, ownership, sound judgement, customer focus and the ability to lead teams through ambiguity. They will be comfortable challenging poor practices, translating technical issues into business impact and driving practical improvement across the engagement.
