Accountant (General) – Wholesale & Retail

About the Role

FM PUMPS PTY LTD ( T/As Fluid Enterprises) is an established Australian business operating in the plumbing and industrial products wholesale and retail sector. We are seeking an experienced Accountant (General) to manage our financial accounting functions and provide accurate financial information and analysis to management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare profit & loss statements, balance sheets and management financial reports.
2. Prepare budgets, forecasts and cash-flow reports.
3. Analyse income, expenditure, profitability, costs and financial performance.
4. Manage accounting systems, procedures and internal financial controls.
5. Prepare and reconcile asset, liability, capital, bank, supplier and customer accounts.
6. Analyse sales, purchases, inventory, product costs and gross margins.
7. Assist with inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
8. Prepare financial information for BAS, FBT, payroll tax and income tax and liaise with external tax agents.
9. Provide financial analysis and advice to management and directors.
10. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
11. Use the company's ERP and accounting systems to manage financial and operational information and generate reports.
12. Perform other accounting and financial duties reasonably associated with the position.

Skills & Experience

1. Relevant qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
2. Minimum 3 years' demonstrated professional accounting experience.
3. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
4. Fluency in using business ERP and accounting software, with the ability to extract and analyse financial and operational data.
5. Strong Excel skills.
6. Experience with inventory, purchasing, sales, costing and gross-margin analysis.
7. Experience in a wholesale and/or retail environment.
8. Experience in plumbing, industrial products, hardware, engineering or related products will be highly regarded.
9. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
