Senior Privacy Officer - Local Council

Public Sector People are working in partnership with a Local Council Council, who are seeking a Senior Privacy Officer provide senior specialist advice and end to end case management on all matters (including escalated and complex matters from other Officers) associated with privacy compliance supporting lawful, transparent and defensible decision‑making and assisting the Principal Privacy Advisor to deliver effective governance outcomes.

Role title: Senior Privacy Officer
Pay: $ 74 per hour + super
Location: Logan, South Brisbane,
Client: Logan City Council
Start date: ASAP
Contract length: Initial contract until 30th November 2026 + extension
  
What you will be doing:

• Provide high‑quality, risk‑informed advice on privacy matters, interpreting and applying relevant legislation, case law, policies and best practice to support sound, compliant and defensible decision‑making.
• Support the Principal Privacy Advisor in the coordination and management of data breach responses, including obligations under the Mandatory Data Breach Notification (MNDB) scheme, with a focus on assessment, escalation and notification activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Council’s privacy practices, including identifying risks and trends, supporting the uplift of processes and controls, and promoting consistent application of privacy requirements across the organisation.
• Support the Principal Privacy Advisor in identifying team training and development needs, gaps and opportunities and strategies appropriate ways to address these to ensure continued service excellence.

  
  
Key Requirements

• Legal or legal-adjacent background preferred
• Strong capability to work autonomously in a newly established team
• Confidence managing competing priorities and high-volume workloads
