Working as part of a multi- disciplinary team and in accordance with the objectives of the Hospital, this position is required to coordinate, deliver and evaluate effective and accessible Speech Pathology services at local schools with occasional service provision at the health service and The Aged Care Facility.

This position is required to provide high quality speech pathology care to patients and students referred to the service. Supporting a person centred, community development approach to care in a variety of contexts (i.e: Hospital Primary Care Centre, home, early childhood centres and schools). The position is required to meet the Speech Pathology needs of the Hospital, Victorian Department of Education and the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide efficient, effective clinical management, knowledge and understanding of speech pathology to clients and significant others (relatives and friends) and community groups.
  • Have a collaborative two-way approach to service delivery that encourages patient/resident participation leading to successful health outcomes.
  • Ensure the delivery of direct speech pathology support to Schools and support their community education programs.
  • Ensure all assessments, evaluations and treatments are recorded in the patient files and sent to appropriate school.
  • Participate in collaboration with the Primary Care Centre team in the development of annual business plans and budgets, which meet the strategic needs of the organisation and are monitored to achieve targets.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Department, ensure the needs of the organisation are monitored to achieve required targets.
  • Develop a work plan so that all areas receive appropriate time and delivery of service.
  • Pursue opportunities for continuing professional and personal development.
  • Leadership activities are undertaken in a manner that positively supports the organization and facilitates commitment to organisational values and standards by all staff

Essential:

  • Relevant Bachelor or Masters Degree in Speech Pathology. Membership with the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
  • Post-graduate qualification in relevant area, i.e. Community Health;
  • Experience in community or primary health setting
  • Competent Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to the organisations key accountabilities and values
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Experience with therapeutic, educative and support group work.
  • Proven ability to liaise with internal and external customers at all levels;
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet demanding work deadlines; 
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Great Care
  • Evidence of required Flu vaccinations
