Are you an experienced Parks & Gardens worker who enjoys working outdoors, operating machinery, and taking pride in creating and maintaining high-quality public spaces? We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join a local council team responsible for maintaining parks, reserves, streetscapes, and community open spaces.This is a fantastic opportunity to secure ongoing local government work while contributing directly to the presentation and enjoyment of public spaces used by thousands of residents every day.

Your new role
Working as part of a dedicated Parks & Gardens team, you will play a key role in maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of council-managed reserves, sporting grounds, and streetscapes.Responsibilities may include:

• Maintaining public parks, gardens, reserves, and open spaces to a high standard
• Planting, pruning, watering, mulching, weeding, and general horticultural maintenance
• Spraying and treating plants, garden beds, and turf areas in accordance with council procedures
• Operating and maintaining a range of power tools and horticultural equipment, including:
  • Whipper snippers
  • Blowers
  • Ride-on mowers
  • Chainsaws
  • Hedge trimmers
  • Brush cutters
• Driving council trucks and vehicles between work sites and assisting with transportation of plant, equipment, and materials

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for outdoor work and maintaining community spaces.Essential requirements include:

• MR/HR Licence
• White Card
• Previous experience in parks and gardens, landscaping, horticulture, grounds maintenance, or a similar outdoor maintenance role
• Experience safely operating gardening and landscaping equipment
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and manual handling duties
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team environment

Desirable qualifications:

• Chemical Handling Certificate
• Chainsaw Certificate
• Horticulture qualification or related industry tickets
