About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to help build, maintain and support secure, bare-metal infrastructure within disconnected environments.

The role will involve working across Linux, Kubernetes, server, storage, networking and firewall technologies. You will support both new infrastructure deployments and the ongoing operation of the environment, including incident response, troubleshooting, patching and hardware maintenance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal infrastructure
• Administering Linux systems across build, patching and operational activities
• Troubleshooting infrastructure issues across hardware, Linux, Kubernetes and network layers
• Completing firmware updates and offline patching within secure environments
• Configuring and supporting server, storage, network and firewall components
• Maintaining clear technical documentation, build records and operational procedures
• Working with internal engineers, vendors and delivery partners to achieve agreed outcomes  

The role is primarily based on-site within a secure facility. Depending on operational requirements, some positions may involve participation in a rotating shift roster, including work outside standard business hours.

The Successful Candidate

To be successful, you will have:

• Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills
• Practical experience deploying or supporting Kubernetes on bare-metal infrastructure
• Sound networking knowledge and experience using Linux networking tools
• Experience with out-of-band management and serial console access
• An understanding of working within air-gapped or offline environments
• Experience with Git and version-controlled technical environments
• Scripting or automation experience using Bash, Python or Ansible
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
  • HPE server infrastructure
  • NetApp storage technologies
  • Cisco switching
  • Palo Alto Networks firewalls

Experience with PKI, certificate management, service mesh technologies or highly secure government environments will be highly regarded. Relevant certifications across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, storage or security technologies would also be beneficial.

Location: Canberra, ACT – onsite/hybrid option available

Security Requirements: To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen. Due to the work environment, our client has requested that all candidates are required to hold current NV2 Security Clearance.
