Our oncology service supports patients physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing, including their surgical and medical needs. Our dedicated Thomas Furlong cancer ward, Day Cancer Centre and GenesisCare radiation oncology facility, bring together clinicians from a wide range of areas for cancer treatment, including oncology, haematology and palliative care on site.

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses with oncology experience to join our dedicated Cancer Day Centre team. As a valued member of our friendly and supportive team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care in a safe, effective and professional manner.

Our 20-bed Cancer Centre specialises in a comprehensive range of oncology and medical treatments operating Monday through to Saturday, 8.30 to 5pm. Our experienced team of nurses and medical professionals is committed to providing personalised care, support and guidance to each patient throughout their day treatment journey. With access to state-of-the-art technology and contemporary treatment practices, our Cancer Centre is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care and achieving positive outcomes for our patients.

• Cancer diagnostics

• Cancer-related surgery

• Chemotherapy treatment

• Targeted therapies and immunotherapies

• Radiation oncology

• Allied health support, including social work, dietetics, case management and pharmacy

• Pain and symptom management

• Pastoral care

• Specialist nursing support in breast care, oncology and palliative care

• Medical infusions including Crohns disease and Multiple clerosis

Our experienced nursing team works closely with medical specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout treatment and recovery. The service is further strengthened by specialist clinicians in breast care, prostate care, bowel care, stomal therapy and wound management, ensuring patients receive coordinated, holistic care tailored to their individual needs.

Key responsibilities

The Enrolled Nurse Position

• Function within legal and registration constraints in relation to enrolled nursing practice.

• Maintain and develop clinical skills in order to deliver patient care appropriate to level of competence.

• Deliver a high standard of patient care utilizing appropriate resources cost effectively.

• Adhere to and support hospital policies, procedures and standards.

• Act as the patient’s advocate and protect the rights of individuals.

• Provide patient education and participate in discharge planning, where applicable or as required.

• Participate in quality improvement activities.

• Demonstrate a courteous manner to internal and external customers.

The Registered Nurse Position

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required.

• Promote and contribute to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.

• Provide patient education and act as a resource where appropriate.

• Support and supervise staff and students as required, including orientating and precepting staff.

• Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

Your skills and experience

The successful applicant will hold registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

You will have the ability to work collaboratively and effectively within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. Registered Nurses with minimum 12 month clinical and chemotherapy administration with Antineoplastic Drug and Administration Course completed is essential to the role.

We can offer you

• Enrolled Nurse Salary: $72,637 to $94,929 (pro rata for part-time), plus 12% superannuation

• Enrolled Nurse Casual Rate: $45.80 to $59.85 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation

• Registered Nurse Salary: $82,945 to $106,630 (pro rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation

• Registered Nurse Casual Rate: $52.30to $67.24 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation

• Permant full-time, part-time and Casual positions.
