We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Panel Beater to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
As a Panel Beater, you will be responsible for assessing and repairing damaged vehicle bodywork and restoring vehicles following collision or accident damage. The role requires strong practical trade skills and the ability to carry out panel repairs, replacement and structural restoration safely and accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Panel Beater, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Dismantling damaged vehicle body sections and removing panels, trims, fittings and other components to access areas requiring repair.
- Repairing dents and damaged body panels using appropriate panel beating, reshaping and finishing techniques.
- Straightening and realigning damaged vehicle bodies and structural components using mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
- Assessing extensively damaged body sections and removing and replacing panels where repair is not practical.
- Restoring repaired surfaces by applying body filler and carrying out filing, grinding and sanding to achieve the required finish.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping and joining replacement body sections using appropriate welding equipment and repair techniques.
- Installing repaired or replacement panels and refitting associated body hardware, including trims, locks, fittings and other components.
- Checking the alignment, fit and finish of repaired panels to ensure completed work meets required repair and quality standards.
- Assisting, where required, with the repair or restoration of custom, vintage and other specialised vehicles.
- Preparing repaired vehicle surfaces for refinishing and carrying out spray-painting work where required.
- Operating panel beating, welding, mechanical and hydraulic equipment safely and in accordance with workshop procedures.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area and complying with workplace health and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant must have:
- A relevant Certificate III, Certificate IV or equivalent qualification in automotive body repair, panel beating or a closely related trade; and
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience working as a Panel Beater in an automotive repair environment.
Skills and Attributes
The successful applicant should demonstrate:
- Strong practical panel beating, dent repair and vehicle body restoration skills.
- Sound knowledge of collision repair techniques and vehicle body construction.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Ability to identify repair requirements and solve practical repair problems.
- Reliable work ethic and commitment to completing repairs efficiently and to the required standard.
