The Role:
Cooper Grace Ward is pleased to offer a unique opportunity for accountants with tax advisory experience and legal qualifications who wish to transition their career into a tax lawyer role within our highly regarded tax and tax disputes team, part of the Commercial and Private Client workgroup.
In this role, you will leverage your strong tax advisory background and legal skills to assist clients with a broad range of GST, tax and revenue matters (including state revenue), providing practical legal advice and implementing the transactions in which you are providing advice. Your contributions will be recognised with career progression supported through mentorship by senior legal leaders.
The variety of work you will do includes:
- Advising on GST, tax and revenue matters (including state revenue)
- Objecting to ATO and Revenue Offices tax and penalty assessments
- Assisting clients with ATO and Revenue Offices reviews and audits
- Involvement in the commercial transactions you are advising on beyond just giving advice
Requirements:
- Accounting professionals with 3+ years’ experience in tax advisory roles and a completed law degree
- A genuine interest in transitioning into tax law and combining accounting expertise with legal practice
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Passion for outstanding client service and building strong, long-term client relationships
- Ability to work independently and provide support and guidance to junior team members
