CBR Building & Construction is a construction business specialising in construction carpentry work across residential and other building projects. We undertake carpentry works at various construction sites throughout Canberra, delivering quality workmanship in accordance with building specifications, industry standards and project requirements.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a range of structural and general construction carpentry activities across our ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings, building plans and specifications to determine measurements, materials and installation requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber and other construction materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Construct, erect and install timber wall frames, roof frames, floor structures and other structural building components.
- Assemble and install prefabricated timber framing systems and structural components on construction sites.
- Install door frames, window frames, fascia boards, wall cladding and other building fixtures.
- Undertake installation of flooring, decking, subfloor structures and other timber fittings as required.
- Carry out timber jointing, fixing, fastening and assembly works to ensure structural integrity and accurate alignment.
- Inspect and adjust completed carpentry work to ensure compliance with construction drawings, building requirements and quality standards.
- Perform alterations, repairs and maintenance of existing timber structures and fittings.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, builders and other trades to ensure efficient completion of construction activities.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Carpentry or a relevant trade qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant practical experience in construction carpentry.
- Demonstrated experience in timber framing, structural carpentry and general building construction.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using carpentry tools, power tools and construction equipment.
- Sound understanding of construction methods, building standards and workplace safety requirements.
- Construction Induction White Card, or ability to obtain one before commencing site work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a construction team.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Willingness to work at various construction sites across Canberra.
