KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Manage the end-to-end fixed asset lifecycle including additions, capitalisation, transfers, depreciation and disposals.
  • Partner with property, development and project teams to track project progress and ensure assets are capitalised appropriately.
  • Prepare journals, reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger, and deliver accurate month-end reporting.

  • Join a growing, capital-intensive organisation with a substantial asset portfolio.
  • Take ownership of fixed assets and capital project accounting, with scope to improve how things are done.
  • Start immediately on a six-month contract, with a strong opportunity to move into a permanent role.

About the organisation

This growing, multi-site organisation combines a clear social purpose with the complexity of a substantial property and asset portfolio. With ongoing investment in its infrastructure and services, finance plays an important role in supporting growth and ensuring capital expenditure is accurately accounted for.

This is an opportunity for an inquisitive accountant who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships and getting beneath the numbers.

The role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own the end-to-end fixed asset accounting process and work closely with property, development and project teams. You will understand expenditure, track progress and ensure assets are capitalised at the right time.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the end-to-end fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, capitalisation, transfers, depreciation and disposals.
  • Partner with property, development and project teams to track project progress and ensure assets are capitalised at the appropriate time.
  • Monitor capital expenditure against budgets, investigate variances and resolve aged capital work in progress.
  • Prepare journals, reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger, and deliver accurate month-end reporting.
  • Strengthen financial controls, support audit requirements and identify practical improvements to processes and reporting.

There is real scope to make an impact beyond the monthly cycle. You will question inconsistencies, resolve issues with stakeholders and find ways to simplify processes and improve the quality of financial information.

About you

You bring practical experience in fixed asset accounting, capital work in progress and balance sheet reconciliations, ideally within a complex, multi-site or asset-intensive organisation. Exposure to property development or construction projects will be highly regarded.

Naturally curious, you are confident asking questions and comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders to understand what is happening behind the numbers. You combine strong attention to detail with a practical approach to solving problems.

You hold an accounting or finance degree and have strong Excel skills. CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards it, will be well regarded.

If you are available now and looking to contribute quickly, broaden your experience and build towards a permanent opportunity after the initial six-month contract, apply today.
