Join a leading mining organisation driving innovation through data and analytics.Hays Technology is partnering with a well-established mining and resources organisation seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their Perth-based team on an initial 6-month contract. This role offers a combination of corporate office collaboration and site engagement, providing the opportunity to work closely with operational stakeholders and contribute to strategic business initiatives through data-driven insights.
Your new role
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming complex business data into meaningful insights that support operational excellence and informed decision-making. Working across finance, HR, safety, and operational functions, you will develop reporting solutions and analytical models that drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyse and interpret financial, HR, safety, and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Design and develop dashboards, reports and visualisations using Power BI, Databricks, Excel and other business intelligence tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
- Support productivity, project delivery and strategic planning initiatives through actionable insights and analytics.
- Analyse business performance data and present findings to leadership teams to support business reviews and strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of data quality, reporting processes and analytics capability across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or similar analytical role.
- Strong experience delivering data and analytics projects within the Microsoft technology stack.
- Advanced skills in Power BI and Databricks, including dashboard development, data modelling and reporting.
- Experience analysing large and complex datasets and translating findings into meaningful business insights.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working within mining, resources, industrial, or operationally focused environments will be highly regarded.
