ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We are seeking Continuous Improvement Specialists, based in Osborne South Australia (SA) or Henderson Western Australia (WA). You will be accountable for delivering complex Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and supporting the management and evolution of ASC’s CI function across the business. You will enhance the CI capability of ASC team members through expert analysis, support, consultation, and training services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development, implementation, and measurement of approved cross-functional CI initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in accordance with our CI Framework.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement workshops with cross functional teams driving process efficiencies.
  • Facilitate CI projects through structured project planning and stakeholder coordination leading to sustainable outcomes.
  • Analyse workflows, identify inefficiencies, and develop solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of CI, leading by example, coaching champions and business stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIS) related to process improvements.

 About You: 

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a highly complex project environment in a role that embeds CI practices and actively champions CI culture.  
  • Prefer but not essential:  Tertiary qualifications in Business/Commerce, STEM, operations, project management, or related equivalent experience
  • Other skills and experience: business analysis, change management, transformation, innovation, or related disciplines. 
  • Significant experience using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or other process improvement methodologies (certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with knowledge of root cause analysis, PDCA, A3, Six Sigma Tools)
  • Highly proficient in process mapping, data analysis, and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
