Hays Recruitment is partnering with a respected Local Government organisation in Far North Queensland to recruit an experienced Roller Operator for ongoing road and civil works in the remote community of Pormpuraaw. This is an excellent opportunity to secure consistent hours while contributing to essential infrastructure projects in the region. Based on a 7/4 Drive-In Drive-Out roster, you'll work within a supportive team environment on a variety of maintenance and construction projects. Your new role
As a Roller Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating rollers and other plant equipment to assist with the construction and maintenance of roads and civil infrastructure. Working alongside a skilled crew, your duties will include:
- Operating roller machinery safely and efficiently
- Compacting road base and surface materials
- Conducting pre-start inspections and basic equipment checks
- Assisting with general civil and labouring tasks when required
- Maintaining a safe and productive worksite
- Following site procedures and council regulations
This role operates on a 7 days on, 4 days off DIDO roster, with most weeks consisting of 6-day weeks, working 10-11 hour days Monday to Saturday.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience operating rollers within civil, road construction or infrastructure projects
- Roller Ticket (RII or equivalent)
- Construction White/Blue Card
- Current Driver's Licence
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Ability to work remotely and adapt to community regulations
- Reliable transport to and from site

- Community restrictions apply, including limits on alcohol brought into the community
- No firearms or pets permitted on site
