Lead Australian growth strategy for an innovative renewable energy and manufacturing business

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for translating business strategy and manufacturing capability into sustainable revenue, margin and market growth.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the Australian market strategy, developing high-value channels and strategic accounts, leading commercial opportunities and building a high-performing sales function.

About the Role

As BDM, you will take ownership of the Australian business development and sales strategy, with accountability across market growth, channel development, key accounts, sales forecasting, CRM governance and coordinated marketing activity.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Finance, you will ensure customer commitments are commercially sound, technically supported and operationally deliverable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement annual business development and sales plans, budgets and forecasts aligned with the organisation's Australian growth strategy and manufacturing capacity.
  • Translate business strategy into clear market, customer, channel and account priorities.
  • Lead, coach and develop the sales and business development team, establishing clear objectives, KPIs and performance expectations.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies across distribution, wholesale, commercial, industrial and government markets.
  • Identify and progress qualified opportunities, strategic partnerships, distribution arrangements, tenders and major accounts.
  • Own the Australian sales pipeline, forecasting, conversion performance and account planning process.
  • Lead Salesforce CRM governance, data quality, dashboards and reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, engineering and construction contractors, industry bodies and government stakeholders.
  • Lead customer proposals, tenders and commercial negotiations in partnership with Finance, Legal, Engineering and other relevant functions.
  • Develop pricing, discount and margin recommendations while maintaining strong commercial and risk discipline.
  • Coordinate commercial, technical and operational input into opportunity feasibility, financial modelling and due diligence.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to support demand planning, product availability and reliable customer delivery.
  • Prepare executive and Board-level reporting covering forecasts, pipeline quality, margin outlook, market insights, risks and performance.
  • Coordinate approved brand, campaign, digital, trade show, customer event and industry engagement activity.
  • Drive continuous improvement across sales capability, customer experience, systems, processes and reporting.

    About You

We are seeking an accomplished senior sales or business development leader with a strong track record of delivering commercial growth within a complex B2B environment.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Significant management experience across business development, sales, commercial growth or strategic account management.
  • Proven people leadership capability, including coaching, performance management, capability development and building an accountable team culture.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing business development, sales, channel and go-to-market strategies.
  • Experience within renewable energy, solar PV, energy infrastructure or a closely related technical or industrial sector.
  • Strong understanding of complex B2B sales, distribution and wholesale channels, commercial and industrial customers, major accounts and government markets.
  • Proven experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting, revenue and margin performance, CRM governance and executive reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen across pricing, margin management, contract negotiation, financial evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Experience leading complex tenders, commercial negotiations and major-account bids.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills across executive, technical, operational, customer and government environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing proposals, tenders, business cases, executive presentations and Board reporting.
  • The ability to operate effectively within a fast-growth manufacturing, renewable energy, electrical products, construction products or technology-led environment.

A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Sales or a related discipline is desirable, alongside an unrestricted right to work in Australia.

    The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious commercial leader to join a business operating at the intersection of renewable energy, advanced technology and local manufacturing.

With genuine scope to influence market strategy, build new channels, develop strategic partnerships and shape the future direction of the Australian sales function, this role will suit a commercially driven leader who enjoys operating at both a strategic and hands-on level.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to build markets, develop people and deliver sustainable commercial growth within an evolving renewable energy sector, we would welcome your application.
