Established under the Courts Administration Act 1993, the CAA provides the administrative services, expertise and infrastructure that enable the state's courts to operate effectively and efficiently. The CAA supports the Supreme Court, District Court, Environment, Resources and Development Court, Youth Court, Magistrates Court and Coroner's Court.

About the role

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work at the highest levels of the South Australian justice system.

As the Executive Officer to the Chief Justice, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, ensuring the effective operation of chambers and providing high-level executive, administrative and strategic support across a broad range of responsibilities. You will be a trusted adviser and key point of coordination, working closely with the judiciary, senior leaders, government agencies, the legal profession and other stakeholders.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of competing priorities with excellent organisational skills, sound judgement and strong attention to detail.
  • Proven experience providing high level executive and administrative support to a senior executive, judicial officer or equivalent.
  • Highly developed skills in the preparation of accurate, professional correspondence and documents, supported by strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and administrative systems.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to identify, develop and implement improvements to administrative systems, processes and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including with judicial officers, senior leaders, court staff and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise confidently and appropriately with senior executives, government agencies, the legal profession and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism in the management of sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality service delivery, teamwork, continuous improvement, equity, and effective information and knowledge management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of judicial and court processes and functions.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using Electronic Court Management System (ECMS) and Objective.

Special Conditions:

  • Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act 1993. Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act 2009.
  • Appointment is subject to a current National Police Certificate that the Courts Administration Authority considers satisfactory.
  • As a justice agency the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process.
  • Intrastate travel may be required.
