Our client, Ballarat Interiors & Joinery, is an Australian joinery and custom cabinetry company based in Ballarat, Victoria, specialising in bespoke cabinetry and interior fit-out work. Their services include kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, furniture, doors and broader interior design and decorating projects. The company emphasises custom design, quality craftsmanship, project management and delivering projects on time and within budget.
The company is currently seeking a full-time Cabinetmaker to join their team.This position is responsible for building, repairing, and installing wooden cabinets, furniture and fixtures. A Cabinetmaker may set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines and use various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden cabinets and high-grade furniture. You will be required to study blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.
The annual salary for this position is $80,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation.
Duties include:
- Read and review basic drawings, work orders and specifications with guidance from experienced cabinetmakers.
- Assist in measuring and estimating material requirements for cabinet and furniture production.
- Select and prepare materials such as timber, veneers, particle board, Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and other wood-based products.
- Measure, mark and cut materials according to drawings and specified dimensions, ensuring accuracy and proper fit.
- Operate basic woodworking hand tools and power tools under appropriate supervision.
- Assist with setting up and operating machinery such as panel saws, table saws, jointers, routers, drills, sanders and other woodworking equipment.
- Cut and shape timber and board materials to required sizes and profiles using appropriate tools and machinery.
- Drill and bore holes for screws, dowels, hinges and other fittings using hand tools or drilling equipment.
- Trim, sand, scrape and prepare cabinet components and joints for assembly and finishing.
- Assist in assembling cabinet components and furniture sections using glue, screws, nails, dowels, clamps and other appropriate fasteners.
- Fit and install hinges, drawer runners, handles, catches, shelves and other cabinet hardware.
- Check assembled components for correct measurements, alignment, fit and overall quality.
- Assist experienced cabinetmakers with rectifying minor fitting issues and adjusting components to achieve a proper finish.
- Assemble cabinets and cabinetry components for kitchens, vanities, laundries, bathrooms, bedrooms and pantries.
- Assist with preparing finished cabinets and components for installation and delivery.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area and safely store tools, materials and equipment.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and operation of woodworking tools and machinery.
Qualifications:
- Must have one to two years (1-2) of experience.
- Should possess at least a Certificate III in Cabinetmaking.
