Senior Manager , Credit Risk Assurance (Business & Commercial Lending)
Sydney | Permanent | Hybrid
About the opportunity
A financial services organisation is looking for an experienced credit risk professional to join its internal audit function. In this senior role, you’ll be the independent voice on how well credit risk is being managed across business banking, spanning small business, commercial and corporate lending.
This isn’t a box-ticking audit role. You’ll be expected to form a view, back it with evidence, and take it to senior leaders with confidence. Your work will directly shape how the organisation understands and responds to credit risk, giving you real visibility and influence across the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading assurance reviews over credit risk management, lending practices and portfolio performance across the business lending book
- Testing whether credit frameworks, controls and decision-making are fit for purpose, and calling out where they aren’t
- Spotting emerging risks and trends early, and helping the business get ahead of them
- Building trusted relationships with executives and senior stakeholders across the front line, risk and leadership teams
- Using data to sharpen your reviews, moving beyond sample testing to insight-driven assurance
- Producing clear, balanced reporting that turns complex findings into practical recommendations
What you’ll bring
- Deep experience in business, commercial or corporate credit risk, whether from credit, risk, audit or a combination
- A strong grasp of credit-related prudential and regulatory requirements and how they work in practice in a banking environment
- The presence and judgement to challenge constructively at senior levels, and to hold your position when it matters
- Excellent analytical and writing skills, with a talent for making complex issues easy to understand
- A data-curious approach. Experience with tools such as SQL, SAS, Power BI or Tableau will be well regarded
Why apply?
- A high-impact role where your expertise is valued and your opinion carries weight
- Exposure to senior leadership and a broad view across the organisation’s lending activities
- Hybrid working that offers genuine flexibility
