Data Platform Engineer – Snowflake
Location: Sydney/Hybrid
Contract: 12-month fixed-term
Salary: $130,000 - $155,000 + Super
An established Australian organisation is looking for a hands-on Data Platform Engineer to support a significant uplift of its data engineering capabilities.
The opportunity centres on improving how enterprise data is ingested, transformed, modelled and delivered for downstream consumption. You'll be involved in developing new pipelines, improving existing processes and introducing more consistent engineering practices across a modern cloud data environment.
This is a delivery-focused role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, building scalable solutions and taking ownership of technical outcomes rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
About the Role
- Design, develop and enhance end-to-end data ingestion and transformation pipelines
- Build scalable data solutions using Snowflake, SQL, Python and modern ETL/ELT technologies
- Develop reusable engineering patterns and improve consistency across data pipelines
- Implement and enhance CI/CD processes to support automated testing and deployment
- Design and optimise data models for analytics and reporting
- Introduce automated data quality checks, validation processes and monitoring capabilities
- Improve the reliability, performance and maintainability of existing data solutions
- Work collaboratively with engineering, architecture and analytics stakeholders
About You
- Strong hands-on Data Engineering experience within modern cloud data environments
- Commercial Snowflake experience a must have
- Advanced SQL skills and practical Python development experience
- Experience developing engineering standards, reusable frameworks or common design patterns
- Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD and automated deployment processes
- Comfortable working independently, solving technical challenges and collaborating across teams
Highly Regarded
- dbt or comparable ETL/ELT technologies
- Medallion architecture or similar layered data design approaches
- Terraform or infrastructure-as-code experience
- Experience integrating data from complex enterprise systems
- Exposure to automated monitoring, observability and modern development practices
