Solution Architect
- Shape digital and technology solutions for operational and business outcomes.
- Translate complex business needs into secure and sustainable solution architectures.
- Provide architecture direction and assurance throughout delivery and implementation.
About the role
As a Solution Architect, you will shape the digital and technology solutions that support TasNetworks’ operational, customer and business outcomes. You will translate complex business needs, regulatory obligations and delivery constraints into practical, secure, resilient and sustainable solution architectures aligned with our enterprise standards and long-term technology direction.
Working with business partners, delivery teams, technical specialists, vendors and senior leaders, you will provide architecture direction and assurance from early planning through implementation and transition to operations. Your advice will help teams make informed decisions, navigate complex trade-offs and deliver whole-of-life value. You will also contribute to stronger architecture practices, reusable design patterns and a more coherent technology landscape.
What you’ll do:
- Develop end-to-end solution architectures aligned with business objectives, enterprise standards and technology roadmaps.
- Evaluate and recommend solution options that balance business value, security, resilience, risk, cost, delivery feasibility and whole-of-life outcomes.
- Define integration approaches and design patterns that enable secure, reliable and maintainable interoperability across systems and services.
- Provide architecture direction and design assurance throughout delivery, including procurement, implementation and transition to operations.
- Contribute to architecture governance, identify material risks and design exceptions, and strengthen consistent practices through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
About you
You are an experienced architecture professional who brings clarity to complex problems and translates business and operational needs into practical solutions. Your background may be in solution, application, integration, domain or enterprise architecture, with demonstrated experience leading end-to-end solution design for complex initiatives.
You combine broad technical expertise with sound business judgement and can explain options, risks and trade-offs clearly to different audiences. You build positive relationships, constructively challenge assumptions and provide credible direction when requirements or delivery pathways are uncertain. You lead through expertise and collaboration, sharing knowledge and helping others strengthen their capability.
You’ll also bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in information technology, engineering, information systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated architecture experience across enterprise applications, integration, cloud, on-premises and legacy environments.
- Sound knowledge of cybersecurity, information requirements, resilience, performance, scalability and operational support considerations.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to provide evidence-based recommendations and influence business and technology decisions.
- Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure or similarly complex environments, and relevant architecture or cloud certifications, would be highly regarded.
