Safety Officer opportunity with Psychosocial focus, based in Sydney CBD, working for a global brand

Join a highly regarded retail organisation in Sydney with a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand. This role has been created to support a network of offices and sites across multiple states, working closely with the HR team and WHS leader.

Your new role
As the Safety Officer, you will support the delivery of workplace health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across the organisations Australian and New Zealand operations.
Key pillars of this position will be:
Psycho Safety:

  • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisations psychosocial risk management framework. You will conduct psychosocial risk assessments, identify potential hazards and develop practical mitigation strategies that support healthy workplace practices.

Workers Compensation and Injury Management

  • Coordinating and investigation of workers compensation and injury management matters, working closely with insurers, legal providers, rehabilitation specialists and internal stakeholders.

WHS, RTW and Compliance:

  • Providing expert advice on WHS legislation, risk management and safety systems
  • Leading incident investigations when needed
  • Supporting health and safety compliance across the office network, sites and corporate head office in Sydney
  • Conducting HSE risk and RTW assessments

WHS Administration:

  • Delivering engaging health and safety training to employees
  • Using psychological and safety data to identify trends and inform targeted initiatives
  • Supporting safety and security planning for organisational events
  • Maintaining accurate health, safety and physical security documentation

Travel:

  • The role is based in the Sydney CBD offices but will require occasional travel and visits to stores, sites and offices when needed across multiple states

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will be an experienced Safety and Wellbeing Officer or WHS Advisor who has worked in a similar role previously
  • You will have strong technical knowledge of WHS and Workers Compensation
  • You will have experience of coaching and training/educating a variety of workforces and leaders in all with an adaptive and versatile style
  • You will ideally have worked in a multi-site position previously in Retail, Hospitality, QSR, or Healthcare with multiple sites
  • You will be confident and happy to travel for your role when needed

Additional skills needed:

  • Experience developing or implementing psychosocial hazard management frameworks
  • Confidence working across operational and corporate environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety management systems
