About the Branch
The Operations Branch is the manufacturing arm of the Mint. It is an operationally-focused, multi-disciplinary team, responsible for the manufacture of both Australian and foreign circulating coin, collectable coins, and tooling to support those production requirements. The Branch covers coin manufacture, die preparation, blank preparation, electroplating, chemical processing, tooling and machining services, planning and packing.
The Branch has a strong focus on safety, continuous improvement, and quality. The Operations branch is currently embarking on a large program of uplift initiatives, providing a great opportunity for enthusiastic leaders to contribute to meaningful change and development.
About the Role
The Production Team Leader provides oversight across a range of manual and automated production activities within the Operations Branch, which may include minting, printing, packing or other associated manufacturing processes. The role leads a team of skilled production staff operating complex machinery and equipment, ensuring the safe, efficient and timely delivery of production requirements to the required quality standards.
The Production Team Leader has a strong understanding of production inputs, processes and outputs and is responsible for coordinating workflow, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance, safety and quality control requirements throughout the production process. The role ensures products are delivered in full, on time and to the required quality standards, while supporting continuous improvement and effective resource utilisation.
The Duties
The duties of this position include:
• Lead, supervise and motivate production staff, allocating resources and coordinating work to achieve production targets.
• Supervise production operations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Monitor production performance and quality, addressing and escalating issues to ensure targets, standards and work requirements are met.
• Coordinate with teams, managers and stakeholders to communicate production priorities, monitor performance and support the effective delivery of the production plan.
• Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve production processes, efficiency, quality, safety and team performance.
• Use various computer systems and applications to record production data, monitor performance, prepare reports and complete administrative tasks.
• Assist and contribute to the review and development of workplace risk assessments and work instructions.
