Savvy Civil Group Pty Ltd is an established Australian telecommunications and civil infrastructure company based in Padstow, New South Wales.

The company specialises in telecommunications infrastructure projects, including telecommunications tower upgrades and decommissioning, rigging, fibre optic installation, splicing, underground and aerial cabling, network maintenance, infrastructure upgrades and remediation works.

Due to ongoing project commitments, increasing operational requirements and continued business growth, Savvy Civil Group Pty Ltd is seeking to recruit multiple suitably qualified and experienced Telecommunications Linesworkers to join its operational teams.

These are genuine, full-time, permanent positions.

Position Summary

The Telecommunications Linesworker is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of telecommunications cable systems and associated infrastructure.

Successful applicants will undertake field-based telecommunications work involving aerial and underground networks, fibre optic and copper cabling, fault identification, repairs and network upgrades.

The positions require practical technical skills, an understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair aerial and underground telecommunications cables and associated network infrastructure.
  • Undertake fibre optic and copper cable installation, splicing, termination, jointing and testing.
  • Interpret telecommunications drawings, technical specifications, network diagrams and work instructions.
  • Identify and locate faults in telecommunications networks using appropriate diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs and remediation works to restore network performance and service reliability.
  • Install, construct and maintain telecommunications conduits, cable supports, poles and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with telecommunications tower upgrades, network relocations and infrastructure decommissioning where required.
  • Operate telecommunications testing equipment and tools in accordance with relevant technical specifications.
  • Undertake site inspections, risk assessments and workplace safety procedures before commencing work.
  • Install safety barriers, signage and other required site protection measures.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, project managers, engineers and other telecommunications field personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works, testing results, materials used and relevant technical documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable Australian telecommunications industry standards, workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV in Telecommunications, or a relevant equivalent qualification. At least three years of relevant practical experience may be considered in substitution for formal qualifications.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience in telecommunications lineswork or closely related telecommunications infrastructure activities.
  • Demonstrated practical experience installing, maintaining or repairing aerial and underground telecommunications networks.
  • Experience in fibre optic and/or copper cable installation, splicing, termination and testing.
  • Ability to interpret telecommunications plans, diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications fault-finding, network maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Understanding of Australian workplace health and safety practices.
  • Good communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a field-based team.
  • Willingness to travel to telecommunications project sites throughout New South Wales.

Relevant industry licences, working-at-heights training, construction induction certification and other telecommunications-related competencies will be highly regarded where applicable to the duties.

Salary and Employment Conditions

  • Annual salary of AUD $80,000–$90,000 plus superannuation.
  • Full-time, permanent employment.
  • 38 ordinary working hours per week.
  • Work based in Padstow NSW, with travel to project sites throughout New South Wales.
  • Annual leave, personal leave and other applicable employment entitlements in accordance with Australian employment legislation.
