Position Overview

This role is a full-time 10 Month Fixed-Term Contract. Candidates must be based in Victoria for this opportunity.
As a Senior Analyst within the Investment Stewardship team, you will play a key role in supporting VFMC's investment stewardship program across listed and unlisted investments. Working closely with the Head of Investment Stewardship and investment teams across the organisation, you will contribute to ESG integration, active ownership initiatives, company engagement, proxy voting activities and strategic stewardship projects.

This is a unique opportunity to combine investment analysis with responsible investment practices in an organisation that has a meaningful impact on the long-term financial future of Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively work with all Investment Stewardship team members to execute proxy voting activities and stewardship initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in company engagement meetings and discussions with external fund managers.
  • Support ESG integration across asset classes through investment due diligence, company research, analysis and briefing note preparation.
  • Contribute to major ESG and responsible investment projects, including areas such as climate risk and sustainability.
  • Participate in, contribute to, and adopt leadership position regarding industry-wide collaborative investment stewardship initiatives.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, board papers, responsible investment reports, policy documents and client communications.
  • Present insights and stewardship developments to internal stakeholders and investment teams.
  • Partner closely with investment professionals across the organisation to promote best practice stewardship outcomes.

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience within investment management, financial services, consulting, professional services or a related field.
  • A genuine interest in ESG, sustainable investment and investment stewardship.
  • Strong financial analysis and valuation skills, supported by advanced Excel capability.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into practical investment outcomes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to work independently when required.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Science, Social Science or a related discipline.
  • Progress towards or completion of postgraduate qualifications such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program will be highly regarded.
  • Some exposure to ESG analysis, stewardship, sustainability, climate risk or responsible investment frameworks is desirable.
