Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician
Monday-Friday | Day Shift | $50-$60 per hour + SuperAbout the Role
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters and Service Technicians to join a leading manufacturer and service provider of waste collection vehicles and compaction equipment. These roles offer a mix of workshop-based assembly, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, commissioning, and field service activities.
You will play a key role in ensuring equipment is manufactured, maintained, and serviced to the highest standards of safety, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and associated components.
  • Install, commission, and test waste collection bodies and compaction equipment.
  • Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, testing, and quality checks.
  • Attend customer sites to provide maintenance, repairs, and technical support when required.
  • Install replacement components and carry out equipment upgrades.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and relevant documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, production teams, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety, quality workmanship, and compliance with company procedures.

About You

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or similar.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working on heavy vehicles, waste equipment, transport equipment, construction machinery, mobile plant, or manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
