Summary

Our client Leons Painting Services is a Perth-based painting business delivering professional residential, commercial, new construction and renovation painting services across the metropolitan area. Our client is seeking to add a Painter to undertake surface preparation, coating and finishing works across varied project environments, while maintaining high-quality workmanship, workplace safety standards, project specifications and construction schedules.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by removing old coatings, filling cracks, sanding, patching, sealing and priming.

• Apply paints, varnishes, stains, sealers and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.

• Select, mix and prepare paints and coatings to achieve specified colours, finishes and consistency.

• Identify surface conditions and select appropriate primers, undercoats, coatings and finishing systems for the work required.

• Erect and safely use ladders, scaffolding and access equipment required for painting activities.

• Protect floors, fixtures, furnishings and surrounding areas using drop sheets, masking and appropriate coverings.

• Undertake residential, commercial, new construction and renovation painting works across varied project sites.

• Perform repainting, restoration and finishing works in accordance with job specifications and client requirements.

• Inspect completed surfaces and rectify defects, uneven finishes or areas requiring additional coating.

• Clean brushes, rollers, spray equipment, tools and work areas after completing painting activities.

• Calculate material requirements and minimise unnecessary paint, coating and consumable wastage.

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures when handling paints, chemicals, equipment and access systems.

• Interpret job specifications and coordinate daily painting activities to meet construction programmes, deadlines and required quality standards.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Minimum 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience working as a Painter or in a closely comparable painting role.

• AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating with required training, Certificate IV, or equivalent relevant trade qualification.

• Applicants without the relevant formal qualification should demonstrate at least three years of directly relevant painting experience.

• Current White Card – Construction Induction.

• Demonstrated experience preparing surfaces, repairing imperfections and applying paints, stains, varnishes and protective or decorative coatings.

• Proven ability to use brushes, rollers and spray equipment safely while consistently achieving professional-quality painting finishes.

• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, including safe ladder, scaffolding, chemical and equipment practices.

• Ability to interpret job specifications, select appropriate materials and complete painting work accurately within required project schedules.

• Strong attention to detail and practical ability to work independently across residential, commercial, renovation and construction environments.

Desirable but not essential:

• Current RIIWHS204E – Work Safely at Heights.

• Current RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces.
