Join a large, complex organisation looking to strengthen its cyber security operations capability on an initial up to 12-month contract based in Brisbane CBD. This is a hands-on senior role with a strong focus on security monitoring, incident response, threat hunting and continuous improvement across a diverse enterprise technology environment.Working as part of an established cyber security function, youll investigate and respond to security events, help improve detection and monitoring capability, and provide technical guidance across a broad range of security technologies. Youll also have the opportunity to mentor other analysts and contribute to the continued uplift of operational cyber processes and tooling.
Your new roleAs a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will:

• Investigate and respond to cyber security alerts, incidents and emerging threats
• Lead technical incident response across triage, containment, recovery and post-incident review
• Conduct investigations across cloud, endpoint, identity, network and broader enterprise environments
• Undertake proactive threat hunting and use threat intelligence to identify potential risks
• Enhance security monitoring through detection rules, use cases and alert tuning
• Contribute to vulnerability management, information protection and insider risk initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate security operations processes
• Develop playbooks, procedures and other operational security documentation
• Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and support the development of junior analysts
• Participate in on-call and after-hours response arrangements where required

What you'll need to succeedYoull bring strong hands-on experience in cyber security operations within a complex enterprise environment, ideally across areas such as:

• Security incident investigation and response
• SIEM, EDR and security monitoring technologies
• Threat hunting and threat intelligence
• Cloud, identity, endpoint and network security
• Vulnerability management and remediation
• Detection engineering, alert tuning and security use cases
• Security operations process improvement and automation
• Strong stakeholder communication and technical documentation skills
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other security analysts
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Cloud or Microsoft Purview would be highly regarded.
• Exposure to Elastic Security, Rapid7, Essential Eight, NIST CSF or ISO 27001 would also be beneficial.
• A Criminal History Check is a mandatory requirement for the engagement.
