  • Work on complex actuarial valuation, pricing and risk challenges across insurance, banking and superannuation clients.
  • Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation
  • Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

This is a great opportunity for an actuarial professional to join Deloitte's Treasury and Risk Assurance team in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, working in a hybrid way on high-impact insurance and financial risk work.

What will your typical day look like?

Your work will span actuarial valuation audit support, pricing and broader market risk advisory across insurance, banking and investment sector clients. That could mean assessing actuarial liabilities, contributing to pricing reviews, or supporting projects tied to liquidity, funding, credit and market risk.

A big part of the role is helping clients respond to complex regulatory and commercial challenges. You'll support work connected to valuations, governance, controls and regulatory expectations including APRA, ASIC, Basel and IOSCO-related requirements, while contributing to advice that stands up in real operational environments.

Working closely with Directors, Partners and colleagues across advisory and audit, you'll get variety, coaching and the chance to deepen your expertise. The team works across service offerings as client needs evolve, so this role offers strong exposure to different problems, stakeholders and ways of working.

About the team

Deloitte's specialist Treasury and Risk Assurance team supports some of Australia's largest publicly listed companies, private businesses and government clients. Within the team, you'll work on insurance, banking and superannuation matters that sit at the intersection of actuarial insight, financial risk and regulatory change, with opportunities to contribute across both advisory and audit engagements.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in insurance valuation, pricing, actuarial work or consulting
  • Experience across general, life and/or health insurance
  • Knowledge of Australian and/or international standards relating to actuarial valuation of insurance products
  • Hands-on experience performing actuarial liability audits, valuations, or related review work for insurance entities
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and communicating clearly with both internal engagement teams and external clients
  • A collaborative approach and interest in working across different service offerings and client problems
  • Experience with tools or languages such as Prophet, Python, CROS, SAS, SQL or R would be an advantage
  • A degree in a numerate discipline, along with Associate status with the Actuaries Institute of Australia or equivalent, with progress toward Fellowship, would be valuable
