A Federal Government department is seeking capable Project Officer (APS6) to support flagship international cyber and critical technology initiatives.

In this role, you will contribute directly to Australia’s priority regional capability-building investments across the Indo-Pacific. You will work across regional cooperation sections to coordinate, deliver, and monitor bilateral and multilateral initiatives designed to enhance cyber resilience, incident preparedness, and critical technology governance with international partner nations. Experience or background working with DFAT would be an advantage.

In the role you will:

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of cyber and critical technology capacity-building projects across Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
  • Draft and coordinate project and procurement artefacts, including grant agreements, delegate funding approvals, contracts, and deeds of variation in compliance with Commonwealth frameworks.
  • Manage active funding agreements, monitor project milestones, evaluate deliverables, and assist with financial acquittals and compliance tracking.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Australian Government partner agencies, foreign partner governments, regional bodies, diplomatic overseas posts, civil society, and commercial delivery partners.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, ministerial submissions, and reporting updates on project progress, and provide secretariat support for official delegations and bilateral meetings as required.
  • Demonstrated experience administering Commonwealth grant or procurement lifecycles, ideally involving international development assistance or cross-border funding mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with contemporary cyber resilience challenges, critical technology issues, or international engagement in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, evaluate project risks in high-tempo operational environments, and help design sustainable capability-uplift initiatives.
  • High degree of professionalism when liaising with diverse cross-cultural, public, and private sector stakeholders, supported by clear, concise written communication.
  • Prior working knowledge of Commonwealth financial and program management tools (e.g., SmartyGrants, AidWorks, SAP) is highly regarded.
