About the Role

As a Navigator, you will be a trusted and accessible first point of contact for families seeking information, advice and support about their child’s development, disability or emerging support needs. Working through a central telephone service, you will draw on your strong knowledge of child development, together with highly developed communication, active listening and coaching skills, to understand family priorities, identify needs, determine whether additional support may be beneficial and facilitate navigation, connections and referrals to appropriate services.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate professional who brings strong knowledge of early childhood development, developmental delay, disability, autism and early childhood intervention. You will have:

  • A degree in Allied Health (such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy), Early Childhood Education or another relevant professional field, with demonstrated experience supporting children with developmental delay, disability or autism and their families.
  • Strong knowledge of family-centred practice, the NDIS Early Childhood Approach and early childhood intervention best-practice principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge to assessment, information, advice and support.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships, listen actively and tailor communication to engage families and professionals from diverse background in an ethical, inclusive, culturally responsive and non-judgmental way.
  • Strong administrative skills, including the ability to gather and interpret information, maintain accurate records, use technology effectively and manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Sound judgement and initiative, with the ability to work independently, make timely decisions, manage multiple tasks and contribute positively to a supportive team environment.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and participation, with an understanding of the functional and social impacts of disability and the importance of supporting children and families

Desirable: Professional registration or membership with relevant bodies such as AHPRA, Speech Pathology Australia, AASW or the Teacher Registration Board of WA, along with experience working with diverse communities and/or training in cultural responsiveness, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
