The Department of Children and Families provides support services across child protection, domestic and family violence, youth justice services, multicultural affairs and senior’s recognition. As the Director of Remote Families and Communities, your primary objective is to provide effective leadership and management across the Central Region, ensuring professional standards and ongoing improvement by influencing recommendations to develop, implement and evaluate the Agency’s policies and procedures. In addition, you will effectively manage the departmental resources in accordance with relevant legislation including the Public Sector Management Act 2012 and Financial Management Act 2014.

Your key responsibilities include; managing change and resource management, developing and implementing appropriate strategies, and managing operational statutory and non-statutory service delivery. You are also responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders; providing high level advice and correspondence in relation to complex operational issues and assisting in fulfilling the Department’s emergency management welfare group responsibilities.

To meet the challenges of this strategic role you require demonstrated leadership with extensive experience in the delivery of statutory welfare services, the ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to complex issues, and highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. A degree qualification from an Australian tertiary institution, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA), the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or the Australian Psychological Society (APS), or equivalent, OR a Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention AND a Vocational Graduate Certificate in Community Services Practice (Statutory Child Protection) is essential.
