Electrical Project Engineer

Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join a major energy and infrastructure project team based in Perth.

Roster: 5/2 Perth CBD

Start date: ASAP

Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements

Pay Rate: $110.00 - $120.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with experience across mining, power generation or renewable energy to work across the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of major projects.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in delivering electrical engineering outcomes across renewable energy and power generation projects.

You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, vendors and other project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with technical, quality and commercial requirements.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review and interpret electrical engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation and scopes.
  • Develop scopes of work, specifications, technical datasheets and other project documentation.
  • Evaluate technical aspects of tenders and support procurement activities.
  • Respond to technical queries relating to electrical systems, solar farm design and equipment packages.
  • Review vendor documentation including ITPs, ITRs, technical procedures and test reports.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Attend and witness factory and site acceptance testing of electrical equipment.
  • Support electrical commissioning, troubleshooting and project close-out activities.
  • Verify that engineering designs meet project specifications and requirements.
  • Support quality assurance and ensure appropriate project documentation is maintained.
  • Contribute to practical engineering solutions that balance technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Undertake occasional domestic or international travel as required by project requirements.

Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience within mining and/or power generation.
  • Experience developing project scopes, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and verify electrical designs against specifications.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Australian Electrical Standards.
  • Experience working across engineering, procurement, construction and/or commissioning environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a project team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with utility-scale solar projects.
  • Experience across renewable energy, power generation or transmission projects.
  • Candidates with additional relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer opportunity.
