Part-Time position available, 30-35 hours per week.

AEC Kedron is currently seeking capable and dedicated Emergency Veterinary Nurses to join our dynamic team. As an Emergency Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and compassionate care. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for emergency and critical care are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department
- Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions
- Utilise advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication
- Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis
- Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols
- Stay current with advancements in emergency and critical care medicine through ongoing training and professional development
Skills/Qualifications:
- Cert IV qualified nurse or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in ECC nursing OR within a busy GP clinic
- Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring
- Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is advantageous
- Ability to work well and adapt quickly to challenges in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners
