This is an opportunity to join a large and diverse local government organisation providing essential services and infrastructure to a growing community. You will join an established finance function, working closely with internal stakeholders to provide high-quality financial analysis, modelling, reporting and advice to support informed business and investment decisions.

Your new role
As the Financial Analyst, you will provide financial analysis, modelling and reporting to support strategic planning, infrastructure activities and broader financial decision-making. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, analysing and interpreting financial performance and management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Assisting with short and long-term financial modelling, including research, preparation and reporting.
• Supporting budget preparation and monitoring through financial analysis and detailed reporting.
• Investigating budget variances, ensuring data integrity and identifying appropriate solutions.
• Establishing and maintaining systems and processes to capture and report financial data.
• Providing financial information and advice to management and key internal stakeholders.
• Supporting financial reporting requirements associated with planning instruments and infrastructure agreements.
• Ensuring financial activities comply with relevant legislation, accounting standards, internal controls and governance requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and processes.
• Translating complex financial information into clear and practical advice for stakeholders.
• Assisting with training and guidance relating to financial reports and systems.

What you'll need to succeed

• A tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or a related discipline.
• Previous Financial Analyst experience within a medium to large organisation.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting experience.
• Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience investigating and interpreting financial and budget variances.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
• Experience developing or improving financial reporting processes and systems.
• CPA or CA membership, or eligibility for membership, is desirable.
