Position: Fitter (General)

Position type: full-time 38 hours per week

Location: Nerang QLD 4211

Salary: $80,000 per year excluding superannuation

Our client, Saltwater Industries, located in Nerang, is seeking to employ an experienced Fitter (General) to fit and assemble parts and subassemblies to fabricate production.

Saltwater Industries supplies high-quality pool and spa equipment, accessories, replacement cells and fit complete systems for pools and spas across Australia. The role requires an experienced fitter to assist with fitting and assembling parts for production.

Tasks and Duties

  1. Interpret technical drawings, plans and equipment specifications to determine the appropriate materials, tools, machinery and work processes required.
  2. Manufacture, assemble and install mechanical components, machinery and equipment in accordance with engineering specifications.
  3. Measure and inspect components using precision tools to ensure correct dimensions, alignment, tolerances and functionality.
  4. Prepare and operate a range of machining and fabrication equipment, including setting appropriate tooling, guides, dies and machine controls.
  5. Machine, shape, drill, grind, cut and finish metal components to required specifications and tolerances.
  6. Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including the preparation, fitting and connection of associated pipework and lines.
  7. Assemble and adjust mechanical components and subassemblies to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.
  8. Investigate mechanical faults, identify the cause of equipment failures and carry out necessary repairs and adjustments.
  9. Undertake preventative maintenance, servicing and refurbishment of machinery, mechanical systems and fluid power equipment.
  10. Test repaired or assembled machinery and components to confirm correct operation and compliance with required specifications.
  11. Assist with the installation, positioning and commissioning of machinery and mechanical equipment at client or work sites.
  12. Maintain a safe and organised work environment and ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant workplace safety procedures and technical requirements.

Requirements:

At least 3 years of work experience OR

Preferred:

  1. 2 years Mechanical fault diagnostics and troubleshooting experience
  2. 2 years Disconnect and Reconnect experience
  3. 12 months entry level Electric and Automation experience.
  4. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and mechanical knowledge which form part of our client’s production environment
