To support its ongoing business operations, the company requires an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee fleet performance, coordinate transport scheduling, manage vehicle servicing and maintenance, monitor operating costs, and ensure compliance with relevant transport and safety regulations. This role is essential to optimizing vehicle utilization, minimizing operational disruptions and maintaining safe, reliable and cost-effective transport operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation schedules, vehicle allocation plans and routing strategies to meet future operational and customer requirements.
- Plan and coordinate the procurement, servicing and maintenance of transport vehicles, equipment and fuel to support ongoing business operations.
- Establish and maintain client relationships, assess transportation requirements, provide information on vehicle availability and service costs, and implement effective complaint-resolution procedures.
- Coordinate future collection and delivery schedules for vehicles and goods to ensure timely and efficient transportation.
- Implement procedures for the proper handling, storage and transportation of goods to maintain quality and minimise the risk of damage.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and transport activities, including arrivals, departures, and the loading and unloading of goods.
- Maintain comprehensive fleet records and develop operational statements, performance reports and fleet management strategies to support business planning and decision-making.
- Implement and monitor workplace health and safety procedures to ensure fleet and transport operations comply with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Relevant Experience and Skills
- At least One year of experience as a Fleet Manager
- Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet utilization, transport scheduling and regulatory compliance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple fleet activities effectively.
- Ability to monitor vehicle performance, schedule servicing and repairs, and maintain fleet availability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with drivers, clients, suppliers and service providers.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and applicable transport regulations.
- Proficiency in fleet management software, maintaining accurate records and preparing operational reports.
