Full-time TANDOORI AND CURRY CHEF
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen and manage kitchen operations.
- Prepare and cook Tandoori and curry dishes while ensuring quality and hygiene standards.
- Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices in cooking procedures.
ALDINGA BAY CAFÉ, in Aldinga South Australia seeks Full-time TANDOORI AND CURRY CHEF.
SALARY $78,000 - $85,000
The successful candidate will be part of a tight knit team and will have responsibility for assisting the Restaurant Manager with the planning and controlling of kitchen operations.
The duties will include:
o Overseeing the day to day running of the kitchen, including selecting, purchasing and ordering foods, kitchen supplies and equipment
o Undertaking stock control
o Planning menu’s and daily specials
o Preparing and cooking foods and advising and teaching staff on cooking procedures
o Monitoring the quality of dishes and the presentation of every dish
o Ensuring hygiene regulations are adhered to
o Preparing, preserving and freezing foods
o Supervising and delegating work to any apprentices and or junior staff
o Creating new dishes
o Estimating food cost and labour cost
o Discussing food preparation with management
o Planning and coordinating menus for any function bookings/ banquets & events
o Discussing function bookings/ events with managers, floor, and kitchen staff to ensure understanding of menu and to discuss any special dietary requirements
o Ensure equipment and kitchen area are cleaned as per health requirements.
The incumbent must be a team player and have:
- Formal qualifications as a chef or at least one to two years proven experience,
- Knowledge and experience in Tandoori and curry and working in a busy kitchen environment
- The ability to work under pressure
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to manage staff and provide training and support
- Ability to cook tandoori and curry is essential.
