Cheltenham
For Purpose Aged Care Australia is looking for an experienced communications leader to establish and lead our first dedicated communications function.
This is more than a traditional communications role.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape how we communicate across our organisation, strengthen how our people connect with our purpose and strategy, build our external voice and reputation, and help influence the conversations shaping aged care in Australia.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Strategy & Performance, you’ll be a trusted communications adviser to our Group CEO and Executive Leadership Team, working across Operations, Marketing, Strategy and other functions.
What makes this opportunity different?
You won’t be inheriting a communications function and simply maintaining it.
You’ll build it.
You’ll establish the strategy, channels, ways of working, tone of voice and standards that bring our communications together across our homes and Support Centre.
And you’ll operate across a genuinely broad communications portfolio, spanning internal and executive communications, change, media, government relations, advocacy, issues and crisis communications.
For someone who enjoys combining strategy with hands-on delivery, it’s an opportunity to leave a real mark.
What you’ll make happen
You’ll:
- Build our communications function and establish an integrated group-wide communications strategy, annual plan, channels and standards.
- Connect our people with our strategy and purpose, creating communications that work for our homes as well as our Support Centre.
- Equip leaders to communicate brilliantly, helping executives, General Managers and Home Managers translate important messages for their teams.
- Strengthen our external voice, leading corporate, issues-based and reactive media relations and working with Marketing to ensure our communications and brand are aligned.
- Build relationships and influence, leading government relations, policy engagement and advocacy across Federal and State governments.
- Lead when communications matter most, guiding our response to crises, serious incidents and sensitive or reputational matters.
- Bring our stories to life, using clear communication, recognition and storytelling to strengthen connection to our culture and values.
- Make information simpler and easier to access, reducing unnecessary administrative effort and supporting our focus on More Time to Care.
About you
You’re an accomplished communications professional who can move comfortably between the boardroom, frontline operations, government stakeholders and the media.
You bring significant senior communications experience within aged care, healthcare or highly regulated environment, together with experience across internal and change communications. You’ll also bring government relations, public affairs or policy advocacy experience, strong media and crisis communications capability, and exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
Just as importantly, you know how to build. You can take an ambition, create the structure around it and then roll up your sleeves to make it happen.
Why this role?
Because few senior communications opportunities give you this combination of greenfield creation, executive influence, organisational impact and sector advocacy.
You’ll have the opportunity to create a communications function from the ground up, become a trusted adviser to senior leadership, improve communication between our homes and Support Centre, and help shape FPACA’s relationships with government, the sector and the communities we serve.
For the right communications leader, that’s a compelling brief.
Ready to build something meaningful?
If you’re excited by the opportunity to shape a communications function, influence at the highest levels and use your expertise in an organisation focused on aged care, we’d love to hear from you.
