$80,000 - $90,000 (higher salary will be considered commensurate to qualifications and experience)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy and multi-combination trucks to transport and deliver cargo safely.
- Undertake long-distance, interstate and remote-area deliveries as required.
- Transport hazardous materials where authorised, following applicable safety procedures.
- Inspect vehicles before and after each trip, record defects and report serious mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload cargo, check the type and quantity of goods, and maintain transport records.
- Secure loads using appropriate restraints, including blocks, ropes, dogs and chains.
- Maintain contact with dispatch to receive instructions, report delays or incidents, and arrange further deliveries.
- Complete delivery paperwork, work diaries, trip records and expense reports in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Plan routes using maps or GPS and adjust travel plans to suit road, weather and delivery conditions.
- Follow required safety and accident procedures, including taking extra care when operating in difficult conditions.
- Refuel, clean and carry out routine checks to keep the truck and associated equipment in good working order.
Qualifications and Experience
- AQF Certificate II or III.
- Valid Australian MC truck licence.
- At least one year of recent heavy or multi-combination vehicle driving experience.
- Ability to maintain and perform general repairs on pumps, meters and related equipment.
- Good knowledge of Perth and Western Australian roads.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, customer service and clear communication.
- Fatigue Management Certificate, Load Restraint Certificate and MSIC Card.
- Experience using dogs and chains and operating side and end tippers.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing and a pre-employment medical.
