About the role
Blackburn Public Surgical Centre is a busy planned surgery unit which has four operating theatres open Monday to Friday. The CSSD department was newly refurbished in May 2024. There is a small team of staff in CSSD that work collaboratively together and focus on a strong team environment. The Surgical specialties at Blackburn include orthopaedics (planned and trauma lists), general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, ophthalmology, vascular and colorectal. The site has a 16-bed ward, with 24/7 nursing staff Monday to Saturday, to care for day procedures and overnight post-operative surgical cases. We pride ourselves on our teamwork at Blackburn. Through fostering close professional relationships, we achieve excellence in the care of our patients throughout their perioperative experience.
About you
- Certificate IV in sterilisation
- Minimum 3 years CSSD experience
- Experience with orthopaedic loan sets is essential
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent team work skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work across all areas of CSSD
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
