Lead Estimator – Mechanical
- Lead the preparation of accurate estimates for mining machinery projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams for successful outcomes.
- Maintain and improve estimating processes and documentation.
Based at our Rutherford operations, we are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator – Mechanical to lead the preparation of accurate, commercially competitive estimates for mining machinery overhauls, refurbishments, and upgrade projects.
Your technical expertise and commercial awareness will ensure tenders are accurate, compliant, and competitive, while supporting continuous improvement in estimating systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for mining machinery overhaul and refurbishment projects.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and analyse project documentation and specifications.
- Prepare tender submissions including pricing, assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, and risk assessments.
- Identify commercial and technical risks and develop practical pricing solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Maintain estimating processes, tools, and documentation to improve accuracy and efficiency.
About You
You have a strong mechanical background within mining or heavy industry and enjoy combining technical knowledge with commercial decision-making.
Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years' experience in estimating, tendering, or project cost management within mining or heavy industry.
- Mechanical Trade Qualification.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering. (desirable)
- Strong understanding of mechanical mining equipment and overhaul methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and mining industry practices.
